As featured in Conde Nast Traveler, the Villas at the Puerto Vallarta Beach Club and Villa Verano (www.villaverano.com) are some of the most famous and celebrated villas on the Mexican Riviera. Robin Leach calls it, "Hollywood's best kept secret." Located in the most elite residential section of Puerto Vallarta, the villas are walking distance to the shops, restaurants, and night life, and command spectacular views of Puerta Vallarta, Los Muertos Beach, and the tranquil Bay of Banderas.

Best Place for a Peaceful Beach Siesta: Villa Verano

"Behold popular Los Muertos beach, with its constant comings and goings! On any given visit to Puerto Vallarta’s most popular beach, you will have the opportunity to request songs from walking troubadours, get a fake tattoo, haggle over a rug, eat fish on a stick, turn down a parachute ride (or not!) and, if you are lucky, get a dinner date for the evening. But what if all you want to do is have a peaceful, uninterrupted beach day? The nearby Puerto Vallarta Beach Club at Villa Verano is invisible and inaccessible to the general public, yet just steps to the water. A select number of day passes are available on a space-available basis. Call (322) 222-5353 for more information."

Beach Club aims to rise above Puerto Vallarta's high-rise fray

"Puerto Vallarta's main beach is lined with high-rise hotels, but one property sits apart: the new Puerto Vallarta Beach Club, an exclusive little enclave with lush jungle as its backdrop.

The property opened recently with three buildings containing one- to four-bedroom villa suites, giving the Puerto Vallarta Beach Club a total of 22 bedrooms, including those at adjacent sister property Villa Verano (www.villaverano.com).

The new complex offers corporate groups, families and wedding parties a range of accommodations and flexibility, said Burt Hixson, co-owner.

"What's unique about it is that we're the last of the low-density beachfront properties on Los Muertos Beach," he said. "You can take over the whole property and have total control for weddings and corporate groups or just book a one-bedroom villa suite."

Hixson and his partners own and operate the 25-year-old Villa Verano, a large, elegant home with a steady clientele of celebrities, families and corporate retreat groups.

Last year, the group decided to expand with three more buildings, each with suites that have their own private infinity pools, outdoor showers and views of Banderas Bay from each bedroom and bathroom.

The suites are self-contained and can be booked individually or in groups.

"These are not hotel accommodations but unique, private beachfront villas with all the services of a five-star resort," Hixson said. "We're trying to offer something in Puerto Vallarta that no one else is doing."

He calls the Puerto Vallarta Beach Club a "private, boutique resort."

A gate separates the three villa suite buildings from Villa Verano, but the entire compound can be booked for a group. The gate is then opened for free flow between the two sections of the property.

A range of services are available at the villa suites and Villa Verano.

The services of a butler are included in the rental prices; chefs, personal grocery shoppers and spa treatment providers are on call, and their services can be arranged in advance or by the on-site concierge.

The new villa suites and Villa Verano share a private beach, the only private beach in this area of Puerto Vallarta, Hixson said. There is a small, waterfront bar on the beach and services of beach attendants.

An on-site restaurant is in the planning stages. Until completed, guests' dining option are to prepare meals in their suites, hire a private chef or take a four-minute walk to the restaurants of downtown Puerto Vallarta, Hixson said.

Rates start at $300 a night for a one-bedroom suite. The Puerto Vallarta Beach Club pays agent commissions, and Hixson said he is eager to work with travel agents, particularly those who specialize in group travel and weddings."
